The only comfort I find with the completion of this book, is the fact there is one more. When released, Red Queen was being advertised as a trilogy. But a few days after King’s Cage release, Aveyard posted to FB: “For those asking, yes there is one more book after King’s Cage”. Odd, I thought.
I wonder if the publishers realized it was a hit, and decided to milk it for more cash.
In my opinion, the book had multiple chances to wrap itself up. Instead, the first half drug on and on… and on. Not typical for Aveyard’s writing style. Usually, she hits the ground running. Which takes me back to my publisher theory- dragging it out to make more money.
That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it, I truly did. There were some breath taking and powerful moments. And I will undoubtedly read the next book. I have high hopes for it!
On a side note: Has anyone made a character sheet and a land map for this book? If not, someone should. Not me, though. Definitely not me.
