My Review in a Nutshell:
I’ll be honest, the Publisher Overview for this book sounds cheesy. Disregard it completely. You will adore Sweet Evil and everything it offers: sizzling romance, action, high stakes, and my new found love- fallen angels. I can’t think of a negative thing to say! In fact, Sweet Evil inspired me to want to become a more positive person. It also made me want to drink heavy amounts of liquor and party in Atlanta with Nephilim, can’t save em all, right?
What’s It All About?
Nephilim are the children of demons. The Nephilims’ main goal is to spread evil and corrupt souls, and are ruled by their demon parents. Anna has always known she was different, her ability to see auras came early on. By a chance encounter with bad boy Kaidan, she realizes she is not the only different one around. Anna is the furthest thing from evil, but through Kaidan, she learns that her heritage is the furthest thing from good, and she has a duty to spread evil, or she will be killed. Anna must embark on a cross-country trip with Kaidan to learn more of her past, and hopefully not succumb her innocence, seeing as Kaidan is the Lust Nephilim.
My Thoughts?
The first book in the trilogy gives us the lay of the land. As we accompany Anna and Kaidan on their cross-country trip, we learn all we need to know (so far) about the Dukes, Nephilim, and their agenda; all while mapping out the future of the series, flawlessly, I must add. The plot was perfectly paced and highly addicting, I stayed fully engaged for its entirety. Most importantly, this is not “just another YA angel book”; A) I am not a young adult, and the sexy scenes had me blushing, and I read Erotica. B) Anna is not your run of the mill YA Heroine. Anna had me knee deep in book love with her innocent persona and hilarious naivety. She isn’t the warrior type we have come to expect, but her morals and mindset are enough to make a Lust Nephilim weak in the knees. Anna is a new kind of heroine, unique and beautiful, just like Sweet Evil.
This book was an all-around win for me. I suggest this series to A LOT of people, and we all come to the same conclusion- “perfection”. I’m privy to think that Wendy is a mind reader; every time I REALLY wanted something to happen, it did. Even the things I did not want to happen, but were necessary to the story. I may have hugged the book once done, no shame over here!
